Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to lead our finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7–8 years' progressive accounting experience, preferably within the construction or engineering industry. The successful candidate will oversee financial reporting, project accounting, budgeting, statutory compliance, and cost control while providing strategic financial insights to support business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Lead project accounting, cost tracking, budgeting, and financial monitoring across multiple construction projects.
• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, financial statements, and cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor project costs, variations, and expenditures, ensuring effective cost control and budget compliance.
• Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, statutory requirements, and applicable financial reporting standards.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, year-end financial reporting, and regulatory filings.
• Develop and implement robust financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Provide financial analysis, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to support management decision-making.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure the integrity of all accounting documentation.
Requirements
• Minimum of 10 years' progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction, engineering, or project-based industry.
• ICAN certification is mandatory. (ACA)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of project accounting, cost control, budgeting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
• Excellent understanding of Nigerian tax laws, statutory compliance, IFRS, and financial reporting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Odoo, ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
