Job Title: Expatriate Junior Accountant
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: Up to USD 1,500 per month
Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience
Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Accountant to support the Finance and Accounting function in Lagos. The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes, with practical experience supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field will be strongly preferred. Professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
The successful candidate will work closely with the finance team to maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, support reconciliations, and assist with financial reporting and other accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and financial documentation.
• Record and process daily financial transactions, including invoices, payments, receipts, and expenses.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Prepare and maintain bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly financial closing and preparation of financial reports.
• Review financial transactions and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and payables and assist with follow-up where required.
• Support the preparation of invoices, payment schedules, expense reports, and other accounting documents.
• Assist with general ledger activities and proper account classification.
• Support budgeting, expense tracking, and financial analysis.
• Maintain proper filing and documentation of accounting records.
• Assist with audit preparation and provide supporting documents when required.
• Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Work closely with other departments to resolve accounting and financial discrepancies.
• Perform other accounting duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Accountant.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of fundamental accounting principles and practices.
• Practical understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes.
• Good knowledge of financial documentation and accounting procedures.
• Experience using accounting software or ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic financial calculations and data management.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a finance team.
• Good communication and organizational skills.
