Job Description
1.Key Duties and Responsibilities Assessment and Care Planning
• Receive patients safely, verify identity, assess needs and establish/update an individualized nursing care plan.
• Monitor vital signs, pain, consciousness, fluid balance, wounds and other clinical indicators; identify deterioration and escalate promptly.
• Deliver hygiene, mobility, nutrition, elimination, pressure-injury prevention and psychosocial support with dignity.
• Prepare patients for procedures, investigations, transfer and discharge; verify readiness and instructions.

Medication and Treatment Safety
• Administer medicines only on valid orders and within scope, applying patient, medicine, dose, route, time, documentation, indication and response checks.
• Independently verify high-alert medicines and controlled drugs where policy requires; report omissions, errors and adverse reactions immediately.
• Perform nursing procedures only after competence validation and use aseptic technique.

Documentation and Handover
• Document assessments, interventions, response, education, escalation and outstanding care contemporaneously.
• Conduct structured shift handover and bedside safety checks; reconcile medicines, devices, specimens and pending results.
• Maintain accurate ward registers, controlled-drug records, stock and equipment checks.

Infection Prevention and Patient Safety
• Apply hand hygiene, PPE, isolation, sharps, waste and environmental controls.
• Complete falls, pressure-injury, venous-thromboembolism and other risk assessments as applicable.
• Report near misses, incidents, safeguarding concerns, equipment defects and unsafe staffing.

Patient Advocacy and Teamwork
• Protect privacy, dignity, consent and patient rights; escalate when instructions appear unsafe or outside authority.
• Educate patients and families on care, medicines, warning signs and follow-up using understandable language.
• Coordinate with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy and support services and participate in ward rounds and improvement work.

Professional Accountability
• Maintain current NMCN licence, CPD and unit competency; disclose restrictions promptly.
• Remain fit for duty and do not abandon an assigned patient area until properly relieved.
• Supervise delegated tasks, confirm the delegate is competent and retain accountability for appropriate oversight.

2. General Responsibilities Applicable to All Roles
• Treat patients, colleagues, visitors and contractors with dignity and without harassment, bullying, discrimination or retaliation.
• Protect patient, employee and Hospital information; use only approved systems and report any suspected breach immediately.
• Follow infection-prevention, hand hygiene, PPE, waste, fire, emergency, incident-reporting and occupational-safety requirements.
• Attend required induction, training, drills, competency assessments, supervision and performance reviews.
• Use Hospital property and resources responsibly; disclose conflicts, gifts, errors, losses and suspected wrongdoing.
• Report to duty fit, punctual and appropriately dressed; complete handover and never leave a critical post without authorization and relief.

Pay: ₦100,000.00 - ₦120,000.00 per month

Education:
• Higher National Diploma (Preferred)

Experience:
• Practiced: 3 years (Preferred)

Language:
• Good English (Preferred)
