The Role
We are seeking a skilled Neonatal Special Care Nurse to deliver specialised nursing care to premature, low-birth-weight and unwell newborns in our Special Care Baby Unit.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement nursing care plans for neonates requiring special care
• Closely observe and monitor neonates' vital signs and general wellbeing, with necessary follow-up
• Manage and ensure neonatal equipment (incubators, phototherapy units, CPAP, syringe pumps, feeding tubes) functions properly
• Administer medications, manage IV access and support feeding (including NG/tube feeding)
• Assist with neonatal resuscitation and stabilisation
• Maintain concise, complete records and reports; uphold patient confidentiality
• Provide education and emotional support to parents of babies in the unit
• Maintain a clean, safe and infection-free environment at all times
• Comply with Standard Operating Procedures and quality standards
• Participate in departmental quality improvement projects
Requirements
• Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM); Post-Basic Diploma in Paediatric/Neonatal Nursing an added advantage
• Valid practising licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
• 0–5 years post-qualification experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) skills; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification an added advantage
• Knowledge of and ability to use neonatal life support equipment
• Attention to detail and empathy; good interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to handle stress and crisis situations

Work Schedule
Shift-based, including weekends: Day shift (8:00am–6:00pm) and Night shift (6:00pm–8:00am).
Pay: ₦4,402,599.48 per year
