About the Company
Our client, a leading Financial Services Group, seeks an exceptional Head of Investment Banking to lead and grow its investment banking division.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for the division, drive business origination, execute high-value transactions, strengthen client relationships, and build a profitable and scalable investment banking franchise.
He/ She must be an experienced investment banking professional with a proven track record in transaction origination, corporate finance, capital markets, structured finance, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory and will report to the Group Executive Director and/or the Managing Director, as may be determined by the company, and will also work closely with the Group Chief Executive Officer, other business heads, the Board, and internal control functions.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement the investment banking strategy in accordance with the expansion growth objectives.
• Lead and manage the Investment Banking team to achieve business objectives and strengthen market positioning.
• Prepare and drive the implementation of annual business plans, revenue targets, and transaction pipeline strategies.
• Create investment banking directives from corporates, financial institutions, government agencies, development finance institutions, private equity firms, and project sponsors.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with CEOs, CFOs, business owners, institutional investors, regulators, and other key stakeholders.
• Identify and originate opportunities across debt and equity capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, project finance, restructuring, and financial advisory.
• Lead client pitches, proposals, mandate negotiations, and business development initiatives to secure new business.
• Lead the execution of complex investment banking transactions, including capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, structured finance, project finance, and advisory services.
• Manage transaction deliverables, including financial modelling, valuation analysis, investor presentations, information memoranda, term sheets, and transaction documentation.
• Coordinate internal and external transaction parties to ensure efficient, compliant, and successful transaction completion.
• Build and maintain relationships with institutional investors while monitoring capital market trends and developing innovative funding solutions tailored to client needs.
• Drive revenue growth, profitability, transaction conversion, and overall business performance
• Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing investment banking team while instilling a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal governance policies, transaction approval processes, and ethical standards
Requirements
• B.Sc./HND in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline.
• A Master's degree (MBA or MSc) is an added advantage.
• Professional qualifications such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, CIS, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Minimum of 12 years' relevant experience in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Capital Markets, Transaction Advisory, or a related field.
• At least 5 years' experience in a senior leadership or transaction leadership role.
• Proven experience originating and executing complex investment banking transactions.
• Strong expertise in one or more of the following:
o Debt Capital Markets
o Equity Capital Markets
o Mergers & Acquisitions
o Project & Structured Finance
o Infrastructure & Energy Finance
o Corporate Restructuring
o Public Sector Financing
o Private Capital Raising
• Strong network of corporate clients, institutional investors, regulators, and professional advisers.
• Excellent financial modelling, valuation, negotiation, and transaction execution skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and business development capabilities.
• Sound knowledge of the Nigerian capital market and regulatory environment.
• SEC-sponsored individual registration or the ability to obtain the required registration will be an added advantage.
Salary: Within industry bracket/ Negotiable.
