Job Responsibilities
Human Resources Management
• Oversee, develop, and implement the recruitment and selection process ensuring effective procedures for acquisition and retention of qualified candidates
• Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
• Drive performance appraisal systems, employee engagement, and staff learning initiatives.
• Develop, implement, and manage an appropriate employee recognition program.
• Review all payroll components and deductible elements (e.g., PAYE, ITF, NHF, Pension) for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Ensure consistent application of all compensation and benefits policies and practices across the organization.
• Manage employee grievances, disciplinary processes, and conflict resolution professionally and objectively.
• Design, update, and implement comprehensive employee handbooks, HR systems, and procedures.
• Ensure organizational compliance with all health and safety related legislation, regulations, and directives.
Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
• Provide legal expertise, support, and advice to the organization on matters related to labour legislation and labour relations practices.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, NDAs, and other corporate legal documents.
• Identify potential legal and regulatory risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations (e.g., pension, tax remittances, labor laws) and manage relationships with regulatory authorities and external solicitors.
Requirements & Qualifications
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a Barrister-at-Law (B.L) qualification.
• A Master's Degree in Human Resource or Law would be an added advantage.
• A Professional HR certification such asCIPM, SHRM, HRCIis mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in both legal and human resources, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
• Advanced knowledge of the Nigerian Labour Law, Corporate Governance, and HR best practices.
• Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
• Exceptional written, oral communication and interpersonal skills providing articulate, constructive, and timely interaction at all levels with the ability to make complex issues comprehensible.
