Primary Duties and Responsibilities

GI Clinic and/or ICU/ED experience strongly preferred.
The clinical nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in the professional role described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Associates (SGNA). The clinical nurse’s roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to providing care in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases of care. In the intraoperative phase of care, clinical nurses are expected to perform tech roles to meet departmental needs. In addition, the clinical nurse will be proficient with diagnostic procedures, interventional procedures (including call shifts), pulmonary procedures, and other procedures performed within the GI/MPU.
The Registered Nurse will perform the duties and tasks for the Santa Monica Hospital GI/MPU and the Outpatient GI suite. Your shift may be variable to meet departmental needs.

We’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated nursing professional with:
• Current valid California RN license required
• BSN or MSN required
• Greater than six months of nursing experience required
• PTU/PACU, Operating Room, ER, ICU or Procedural Unit experience preferred
• BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association required
• ACLS from the American Heart Association required
• PALS from the American Heart Association required
• Ability to push, pull, lift, up to 35 lbs. required
• Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis
• Ability to perform historical, physical and behavioral patient assessments
• Ability to develop and implement and evaluate patient care plan actively involving patients, family, and staff
• Official Transcripts and/or original diploma from a registered nursing program must be provided upon hire
