Job Description
Job Summary • The Sales Business Manager will be responsible for developing and executing regional sales strategies, managing distributor relationships, driving market expansion, and achieving ambitious revenue and profitability targets.
• The ideal candidate must possess extensive experience within the FMCG beverage industry and have a proven track record of successfully managing sales operations across Northern Nigeria.
• This role requires strong commercial acumen, leadership capabilities, and an in-depth understanding of the region's trade channels, customer dynamics, and route-to-market strategies.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement regional sales and business development strategies to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share objectives.
• Lead and manage sales teams to consistently deliver and exceed sales targets and key performance indicators.
• Develop, appoint, manage, and strengthen relationships with distributors, wholesalers, retailers, and key trade partners across Northern Nigeria.
• Identify new market opportunities and expand product availability in both urban and rural markets.
• Drive effective route-to-market execution and ensure optimal product visibility, distribution, and market penetration.
• Analyze sales performance, market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to inform business decisions.
• Prepare sales forecasts, budgets, business performance reports, and strategic recommendations for senior management.
• Ensure successful execution of trade marketing activities, promotional campaigns, and product launches.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Production, Finance, and Marketing teams to ensure product availability and customer satisfaction.
• Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing sales teams while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
• Monitor distributor performance and implement corrective actions to maximize business growth and operational efficiency.
• Maintain strong customer relationships while ensuring excellent service delivery and long-term business partnerships.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline. A postgraduate qualification or MBA is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive sales and business development experience, with mandatory experience in the FMCG beverage industry.
• Proven experience managing sales operations and distributor networks across Northern Nigeria is essential.
• Demonstrated success in delivering sustained revenue growth, expanding market share, and achieving commercial targets within the beverage sector.
• Strong knowledge of beverage distribution, route-to-market strategies, wholesale and retail operations, and channel management.
• Established network of distributors and trade partners within Northern Nigeria is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, relationship management, and people development skills.
• Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to interpret sales data and market intelligence.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM and ERP systems is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel extensively across Northern Nigeria to support business growth and customer engagement.
• Valid driver's licence is an added advantage.
