Job Summary
• We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant with proven experience in the FMCG sector to oversee the accounting and financial operations of our business in Kano.
• The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in financial reporting, taxation, payroll administration, statutory compliance, and ERP systems, with the ability to provide accurate financial insights that support business decision-making.
• Candidates must have hands-on experience working as a Senior Accountant within an FMCG environment and demonstrate a thorough understanding of accounting processes and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
• Administer payroll processing and ensure accuracy in salary computation, deductions, and remittances.
• Pension contributions
• Company Income Tax (CIT) and other applicable taxes.
• Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audit exercises.
• Monitor cash flow and support budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment and documentation of financial transactions.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and minimize financial risks.
• Prepare schedules and documentation required for tax audits and regulatory reviews.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Must have a minimum of 4 - 7 years of accounting experience, including proven experience working as a Senior Accountant in the FMCG sector.
• ICAN qualification is mandatory or fully qualified Chartered Accountants (ACA).
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements.
• Payroll administration
• Tax computations and remittances.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, IF statements, data analysis, and reporting.
• Hands-on experience using ERP systems is mandatory (e.g., SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Oracle, NetSuite, or related ERP platforms).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
