Job Description
Our client, a well-established manufacturing firm, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team at their Benin City, Edo, NG office. This role is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records. You will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, bank reconciliations, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.
Key responsibilities include preparing financial statements, journal entries, and supporting documentation. You will also assist in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Senior Accountant and Finance Manager to support financial reporting and analysis. Maintaining an organized filing system for all financial documents and transactions is essential.
The successful applicant will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS), proficiency in accounting software, and excellent spreadsheet skills. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines are highly valued. This position requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA equivalent) is a strong advantage. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel. Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
