We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Oil & Gas Field Operations Engineer to join our dynamic operations team. This challenging role requires your presence on-site in Aba, Abia, NG , contributing directly to the efficient and safe operation of our upstream or midstream facilities. You will be responsible for optimizing production, ensuring compliance with stringent safety and environmental regulations, and managing the day-to-day technical aspects of field operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of reservoir engineering, production optimization, and asset integrity management.
You will play a critical role in identifying operational issues, developing and implementing solutions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including geoscientists, production technicians, and safety officers. Your expertise in troubleshooting complex operational problems, performing technical analyses, and managing well performance is essential. This position demands strong leadership, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to operational excellence in a demanding industry environment. Experience with simulation software and data analysis tools relevant to the oil and gas sector is highly desirable.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of oil and gas wells and production facilities. Ensuring safe and efficient execution of field operations, adhering to all HSE standards and procedures. Diagnosing and resolving operational problems, including equipment malfunctions and production anomalies. Developing and implementing strategies for production enhancement and efficiency improvement. Conducting technical reviews and analyses of well performance data, production trends, and reservoir behavior. Managing the planning and execution of well workovers, completions, and maintenance activities. Collaborating with reservoir engineers to assess reservoir performance and optimize recovery strategies. Working with maintenance teams to ensure the integrity and reliability of production equipment. Preparing technical reports, operational summaries, and performance forecasts. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and field personnel. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Participating in incident investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in oil and gas field operations, production engineering, or reservoir engineering. Proven experience in managing upstream or midstream operations. Strong understanding of production optimization techniques, well performance analysis, and artificial lift systems. In-depth knowledge of oil and gas production equipment and facilities. Familiarity with reservoir simulation and production forecasting software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry. Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a field environment, including extended hours and potential remote site conditions.
