Job Description
The
Intermediate Accountant will be responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the company, including accounting, reporting, cash-flow control, invoicing, statutory compliance and commercial financial support. The ideal candidate is disciplined, highly accurate, commercially aware, and proactive, with the ability to manage receivables, obligations, and reporting timelines to ensure financial stability and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements, in line with accounting standards.
• Control, validate, and review all financial entries on the company’s ERP or accounting system, ensuring complete documentation and accuracy.
• Reconcile bank accounts, ledgers, and financial records regularly to ensure consistency and reliability of financial data.
• Raise accurate and timely invoices and receipts for all services, memberships, events, and products, and issue statements of account as required.
• Actively manage receivables by following up on outstanding payments, flagging overdue accounts, and escalating risks promptly to management.
• Prepare and submit monthly payroll requests on or before the agreed payment date, ensuring payroll accuracy, statutory deductions, and proper documentation.
• Perform complete month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciliations, inventory or retail stock counts, and financial reviews.
• Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitor performance against budgets, and identify financial risks, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
• *Qualifications & Skills**
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, or ACA (or in progress) is an advantage.
• Proven experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting standards.
• Strong attention to detail with strict discipline for deadlines.
• High commercial awareness and strong cash-flow sensitivity.
• High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work independently, proactively, and without conflicting engagements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
