In partnership with our client, we are seeking a
Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in the financial operations of one of Africa's most exciting multi-channel retail businesses. This is a company that sells innovative, proven products across TV, online, phone, catalogues, social media, and retail partnerships spanning the entire country. Who are we looking for?
• You are a qualified financial accountant with a minimum of 4 years of finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably within retail or consumer goods.
• You are analytically strong and able to interpret complex financial data and translate it into clear, actionable insights that drive business decisions.
• You are a strategic thinker who understands how financial planning connects to business growth and can develop and implement strategies that support both.
• You are a proven team leader who knows how to mentor, motivate, and develop a finance team towards high performance and continuous improvement.
• You are a strong communicator who can present financial information confidently to leadership and influence decision-making at the highest level.
• You are highly organised, detail-oriented, and operate with a level of integrity and dependability that inspires trust across the organisation.
• You are adaptable and thrive under pressure, maintaining financial discipline even as business needs shift and evolve.
• You are proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Your Responsibilities...
Budgeting & Forecasting
• You will develop and manage comprehensive budgets, financial forecasts, and reports that support strategic decision-making across the business.
• You will ensure that financial planning is proactive, accurate, and aligned with the company's growth objectives.
• Financial Analysis & Reporting
• You will conduct thorough financial analysis to identify trends, forecast future performance, and present clear insights to the leadership team.
• You will own financial reporting across the business, ensuring leadership always has accurate and timely information to act on.
Cash Flow Management
• You will ensure the efficient management of the company's cash flow to sustain daily operations and support strategic initiatives.
• You will monitor liquidity closely and flag risks before they impact business continuity.
• Compliance & Risk Management
• You will oversee compliance with statutory law and financial regulations, ensuring the business operates within all legal and regulatory requirements.
• You will proactively manage financial risk, putting controls in place to protect the organisation's financial integrity.
Stakeholder Management
• You will work closely with department heads and external partners including banks and investors to optimise financial performance and alignment.
• You will build strong working relationships across the business, serving as a trusted financial partner to leadership and key stakeholders.
Team Leadership
• You will lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• You will mentor team members and invest in their growth, building a finance function that scales with the business.

To be considered for this role you should have...
• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional qualifications such as ACCA, CFA, or CPA is highly desirable.
• Completed ICAN qualification is mandatory.
• A minimum of 4 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in retail or consumer goods.
• Strong strategic financial acumen with a proven ability to develop and implement financial strategies aligned to business goals.
• Advanced proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
